Today’s daily prompt, All About Me, motivates us to explain why we chose our blog’s title and what it means to us.
The Education Cafe began my blogging passion. I started it anonymously, a good year before starting my personal blog.
Education: I am passionate about education (educating children, helping parents educate children, and resourcing teachers). As the About Us/Welcome page says, this blog is all about the education needs of parents, teachers, and students educating or being educated abroad. Articles are written and submitted by a variety of people: moms and dads, homeschool parents, national school parents, boarding school parents and teachers, international school teachers, family counselors, school counselors, education consultants, and students.
Cafe: Originally, I thought about The Education Library, but then I thought that a library sounded stuffy, confining, old, and presumptuous (as if this blog would have everything anyone was looking for). I chose the term cafe because it reminded me of a couple of parents or teachers sitting down in a coffee shop sharing stories and ideas . . . and resourcing one another. That is why the About Us page concludes with the line:
Get your coffee or tea, grab an article, and hang out in the cafe.
