In November, I had the opportunity to view the PBS video “How Difficult Can This Be?–The F.A.T. City Workshop” by Richard D. Lavoie. This DVD shows parents and teachers how frustrating learning can be for a student with learning disabilities. Participants in the workshop actually do some activities that recreate that feeling of frustration, anxiety, and tension (F.A.T.) experienced all too often by children with learning disabilities. If you are the parent, teacher, or administrator of one or more students with a learning disability or otherwise challenged in the classroom, then I recommend you view this DVD.
You can order “How Difficult Can This Be?” DVD and discussion guide from Amazon. com for less than $50. And, though I have not yet viewed the follow up DVD, I also ordered it: “Beyond F.A.T. City–A Look Back, A Look Ahead.”
