Poetic Pizza

-Delana S

Okay, so this is not really about pizza but it does have pizazz! Now, pizza can be poetic…or at least inspiring…but that is for another discussion.

Would you like to motivate your kids to read and write poetry during National Poetry Month and beyond? Here are some sites for all ages and genders:

Poetry for Kids by Kenn Nesbitt is a site my boys loved during their elementary school years. His poetry is incredibly humorous. His site offers poems, games, activities, lessons, contests, and a rhyming dictionary.

The Poetry of E. E. Cummings might appeal to a 7th-12th grade audience. One of my favorites is “i carry your heart with me.”

A favorite on friendship is the poem “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg.

And make sure you stop by the Shel Silverstein official site for kids!
